This paper will employ the constructivism theory to explore the national security of the independent states (Ukraine and Lithuania) in the post-Soviet space, while paying particular attention to the key themes in the  areas security environment, and highlight a probable approach for addressing these problems.Independent states in the Post-Soviet apace, often  together with referred to as the post-Soviet states or the former Soviet Union, or the former Soviet Republics, refers to a group of 15 states that emerged out of the dissolution of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) in the year 1991 (Akiner, 1998 p.1089). The USSR dissolved both because of, and against a backdrop of a serious stagnation in the regions economy, as well as recession most of the independent states that emerged out of the dissolution embarked on the transition towards a  securities industry economy in the wake of the 1990s, rebuilding and restructuring t   heir economic systems.
